The Configurator software is GUI based software
that is used to program the WL-2 Pod using a PC serial cable.
It is available as a free download from Forum Nokia website (see
site link in Support section). After download, simply
run the program in Windows and then connect a 9-way D type cable
from a serial port on PC to the corresponding serial port on the
WL-2 GSM/GPRS Pod.
Key Features of the Configurator software
- Setup of WL-2 Pod in various operating modes such as User Control,
*AT Control, M2M Protocol
- Setup of M2M parameters such as TCP/IP connections that use
GPRS, CSD communications with servers and the Internet
- Download of Java program IMlets to WL-2 Pod using serial cable
or remote Over the Air (OTA) protocol
*AT control is used mainly where you have an external controller
or Modem that is capable of driving the WL-2 Pod using AT commands.
Configurator
User Control Mode
The easiest way to configure the WL-2 Pod for use with a standard
mobile phone is to use the User Control Mode in the Configurator
software. The following are the main features that can be configured
in User Control Mode -
- Control the Pod outputs as ON/OFF using SMS text messages from
a mobile phone
- Control the Pod outputs as pulse ON/OFF for a specified time
using SMS text messages
- Receive SMS text alarms on your mobile phone from digital inputs
such as switches and relay contacts
- Receive SMS text alarms on your mobile phone from analogue inputs
such as temperature and level sensors
- Query the status of all inputs and outputs on the Pod using
your mobile phone SMS text service
- Define SMS text aliases for all input and output states and
control commands
- Personalise the Pod security settings using ID, password, Auto
Pin and Authorised mobile numbers
- Select the frequency of alarm messages(once or continuous) and
analogue input sampling intervals
- Get position information from the Pod when connected to a GPS
receiver
- Upload/Download individual Pod configurations and store these
configurations on your PC
- Modify SIM card security codes and message settings and monitor
the Network signal strength
You can also download from Support section the file WL-2S
default to see the default programmed configuration of your
WL-2 Pod(unless pre-programmed). You can use the WL-2S default.par
file (located in
WL-program.zip folder) to re-program the WL-2 Pod using
Configurator to its default configuration if needed.
